To all Hockey players, coaches, officials and administrators
Hockey WA was recently advised that Hockey Australia had decided to include the FIH Experimental Rules in the 2010 Australian Hockey League competition and that it was most likely that they would also be played at underage national championships (excluding the U18’s due to their timing). The Officiating Reference Panel subsequently discussed whether the rule should be introduced into the Hockey WA competition and if so, to which grades.
The success of the rule at international level has led the Panel to believe that the rule will become part of the Rules of Hockey in the 2010-2011 edition to be released by FIH later in the year and based on this information, it has been decided to introduce the experimental rules to all senior and veterans competitions with immediate effect. Although the rationale behind their introduction is for the AHL players to gain experience playing under the new rules, it was possible that only introducing it to the top grades would cause more confusion than applying it across all grades.
Please note these rules will not apply to junior competition.
