Minkey

What is Minkey?

Minkey is a modified form of hockey designed to introduce children to hockey and develop basic hockey skills. It is aimed for children aged from pre-primary to Year Three. Players are firstly divided into three groups (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced) according to age and ability.  They are then placed in a team of 6 – 8 players and allocated a coach. We encourage children to be in the same team as their friends or school mates. Children train with their team for 30 minutes and then play a game for 30 minutes against another team in the same ability group. The game and rules are modified to ensure a simple and safe version of the game of Hockey played on a quarter size field with a maximum of six persons per side.

Vic Park Minkey players also have the option to participate in a carnival at Perth Hockey Stadium mid-season and have a Disco during the season after one of our two "Minkey Under Lights" sessions.

When is it played?

Minkey is played at Vic Park Hockey Clubs grounds at Fletcher Park in Carlisle from 8.30 – 9.30am on Saturday mornings.

The first session for season 2010 will be Saturday 1st  May.
