Premier League - Panthers Vs YMCC

Sunday's Premier League Mens team 3 - 1 loss to equal top team YMCC was a game of contrasting halves. Our men struggled to get any rythm to their play in the first half and found themselves down 3 nil at half time. The second half was a different story with us continually in attack and putting considerable pressure on their defence. Unfortunately we could not make up the deficit despite creating many opportunities to score.
The opening five minutes saw YMCC attacking heavily but as with all our previous games the defence held firm. Then some strong play by Travis Taylor brought a shot on goal that unfortunately missed. For the next 10 minutes the ball travelled from end to end with YMCC looking the more threatening. A short corner at 17 minutes brought up YMCC's first goal when the umpire missed the ball hitting a YMCC foot of the rebound. Four minutes later another YMCC short corner produced their second gaol. We then worked the ball strongly into the circle from the replay but again could not convert. At 27 minutes YMCC scored a regulation deflection from the penalty spot with a precise entry into the circle from the left hand side. At 33 minutes we again drew a short corner and again could not convert.
The second half was all ours with all our forwards continually pressing the YMCC backs which produced many turnovers and missed passes. At 47 minutes good stickwork from Liam De Young saw him take a shot on goal that went wide. Four minutes later strong pressure from Travis and Jason Gabriel drew another short corner which finally resulted in a goal when Brodie Sarre baseball hit the ball into the net from the rebound. Unfortunately for the remainder of the game we were unable to affect the scoreboard despite creating several more opportunities. The final siren sounded with DY in the circle with the ball on his stick. A frustrating end to a frustrating game.
Our next game is against Wolves next Sunday at 4pm again at Shenton.
